A weekend on the road to Emmaus
On the evening of the Resurrection two disciples walked home to Emmaus, downcast and confused. A stranger joined them, opened the Scriptures to them, and was recognised in the breaking of the bread (Luke 24:13–35).
An Emmaus retreat is a weekend away — men with men, women with women — led by lay people of the parish who have made the retreat themselves. There are talks and testimonies, prayer and the sacraments, silence and real friendship. Phones are left at home, and many come back changed.
